Food: Pesto Chicken

As I was racking my brain of what to make, this delicious recipe popped into my lovely brain:) Since I was in the mood of something quick and yummy, Pesto Chicken w/ homemade Pesto seemed like a great solution.

1) You will need:
For the Chicken:
1 Pack of boneless Chicken breast
1 Lemon

For the homemade Pesto Sauce:
3 cups fresh basil leaves
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (I use pine nuts)
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup olive oil
salt and pepper to taste

2) Start with getting all of the ingredients for the Pesto ready and put in a blender and blend into a creamy sauce. Once the the Pesto is done, you should preheat the oven at °350.

3) Clean the Chicken. I always wash my Chicken with lemon and water. When the Chicken is clean you place it in an oven-safe pan and place the Pesto evenly on each piece and put it in the oven for about 18 min. (Check on it).

4) Make a sallad of your choice to go with your meal and maybe a little bit of pasta.

Enjoy!

How 2 make EggPlant Parmesan in 5 easy steps...

This is a recipe I learned from my friend Jamie Thompson in NYC, obviously I have to give her the proper credit, otherwise she may actually come after me with an actual eggplant (you know how insane these chef's can be). All jokes aside, J makes some of the best tasting food I've ever had...after my mommy and my H's mommy. Sorry J-dizzle! Anyway...enough with the insults:) One of her specialties is her Eggplant Parmesan, so this is me 'BORROWING' her style. Here we go:

Feed moi...

Last night my girlfriend Dyonne and I went to dinner at Divan in Buckhead. Although she made me site outside and risk being eaten alive by the mosquitos we had so much fun (and no, I didn't really get eaten by them:). The food was delicious, as always!!! I love middle eastern food, I always did. The service grrrrreat!!!

You guys should definitely go:)

HIGH on Radcliffe...

First and foremost I have to apologize for the scary raccoon eyes. It even freaks me out to look at myself in these pictures...but non the less, here they are. We were invited to the High Museum to celebrate internationally known artist Radcliffe Bailey and his Memory as Medicine exhibit. It was amazing. The exhibition includes installations, paintings, sculptures, photos on metal, mixed media, and works on paper.

Moi and my sparkling eyes.

Painting the town PINK w/ my BFF - Ruth

After our walk in the Park earlier I decided to take Big Booth to my all time favorite place in this city (Atlanta). The Sound Table on Edgewood and Blvd, downtown Atl. I'm obsessed with this place. The service is great, the place looks great...and I think this is the first time I'll ever say this but I've had every single thing on that menu and it's all great! Seriously, have you ever been anywhere where you can literally close your eyes and pick whatever off of the menu and be guaranteed that it's amazing. By the way, they have just added a patio with a bar aaaaand a DJ. Pretty cool, huh?!!

It's French...but on the Lower East Side.

Last night we went to Jadis, a cute little French place on the lower east side (42 Rivington). The food was great and so was the company, what more can you ask for when going to dinner. It was my favorite style of eating...a bunch of adorable little tastings, great salad and a hungry moi:) Next time we're going to my favorite Swedish place in the West Village...not telling you what it's called yet;)

Ps. *This posting is dedicated to one of my readers who voiced a concern about an expensive skirt.

Swedish Chocolate...yummy.

There is no chocolate that can ever compete with Swedish chocolate. If you have ever had it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It solves everything, if given a chance it may even solve political issues. It's just a thought.

In my house we had rules how these particular boxes were to be eaten. Since this particular box (Paradise) has two floors, the rule was that anyone under the age of 18 was not allowed to dabble amongst the different floors. My mother on the other hand would. I'm sure every family had their own rules...so we're not the only crazys:) out there.

So I was having chocolate while enjoying the New York weather from Robel's place.

Aaa happiness:)

My Lasagna:)

Voila, Lasagna but yours truly!

After Thompson's consistent repetition in asking me if I can make my lasagna, I decided to grant her wishes. For those who don't know, I have perfected the art of making lasagna. It tastes pretty darn good if I do say so myself:) Jamie, Ali and I were eating our little hearts out. Today we are making Eggplant Parmesan! I would write down the recipe but I am a freestyler. It sucks I know. It's the foreigner in moi that never writes down the measurements. It used to piss me off when my mother never had an accurate number for me as far as measurements and every single time I would get on her about it, she would tell me that cooking is about trial and error...you try you're way to the perfect taste.

Here is the approximate recipe for my lasagna:

Shorty's 32, NYC - That's all I have to say!

J finally took me to Shorty's for dinner, and what a dinner it was. We stayed until they shut the place down...that's how I do, I'm a persistent food eater :) Jamie has been speaking so highly of this place that she had no choice but to take me there...and it definitely lived up to my expectations and more. Everything I ate was delicious. I had the calamari salad and after that the chef, Josh Eden aka Shorty was sending out food and desserts left and right. Aaaahhh! Let's just say that I was in heaven for at least 2 hours:) The place is so cute and unlike any other restaurants in New York! Love!!!

Maybe I'll see one of you guys there;)

Go there, it will make you happy!

@ SPITZER CORNER IN SOHO:)

I met up with Henok and Dawit, the guys from Eri-APA. They introduced me to Adam Teckie (my victim:) For those of you who don't know, I'm going to serve as a moderator for the first ever Eri-APA meeting, held in NYC. This is something that these guys have put a great deal of hard work in to and I cannot stop bragging about them.

It's very inspiring and extremely contagious to see someone being that passionate about a project...at least it is to me:)

Ps. Whoever's coming, see you guys on Thursday:) By the way, Spitzer Corner is great! Tried some of the food and it was amazing:) For more info visit www.eriapa.org.

A stroll on my favorite Bridge always makes me happy!

Since I had some time to kill yesterday, I decided to go for a little stroll on my favorite bridge in my favorite part of town (yes, I have one of those:). Everyone needs a thinking place. It really works. Some of my best ideas came while listening to great music or from walking around in one of my thinking places I have one in every city I've ever lived in. I even told my love about it. I think we're at a point right now where he just goes with whatever...just to shut me up or to keep me from elaborating, because I do know how to go on and on. It's a gift!

Ps. By the way...I walked by Taqueria del Sol. This place is always busy! What is the deal. Don't get me wrong, I love this place but shhiiiiish (kebab).

...oh, so about last night!

So last night at Slice (Peter Street), I actually got my food. It didn't really take that long, I simply tend to go crazy when I'm hungry. Anyway, I'm happy to announce that my pizza came. I ordered two slices of cheese pizza with pineapple (Hawai, my Euro people know what I'm talking about). Not really a pizza person but when I'm hungry...grass would probably taste great to moi:)

Just saying.

Twist and Eat

For some reason my favorite part of a menu is the appetizers. This is the part where you're able to mix and match and be your own chef, ok, not really, but almost, ok, just kidding, but almost, kind of...(don't know why I'm trying to explain myself). I love ordering different types of foods that come in small portions...it does make me order so much more, but it's ok...I can eat:) I was at Twist in Buckhead earlier today having a late lunch. I would tell you what I ordered but I don't remember the name of it...it was however a mini steak with blue cheese and cherry tomatoes. It was good. I'll let you know what it's called next time I go there. One thing I love about Twist is their great customer service and how consistent they are with it. I can't remember one time where I've gotten irritated due to poor service, and by now I'm sure everyone is aware of how sensitive I am when it comes to worthless service. Especially if I'm paying, it turns me into something out of a horror movie. No joke!

IT'S LUKEWARM @ BOCADO ON HOWELL MILL...(if you ask moi)

As I was dying from hunger...literally about to slip into a coma I decided to walk down the street and have dinner at Bocado. I've always wanted to go there...perhaps it was the red bullseye O in the middle of their sign that keeps dragging me that way? I don't know. Whatever it was it worked...and in I went. Sad to say, I'm not that impressed. I will provide you guys with a step-by-step scenario reenactment (as most investigators provide when a crime has been committed).

Sooo, here we go:

1) We walk in only to be seated by a living dead guy (super dry, no emotions).
2) Our server was better than the greater. He was actually pleasant...at times.
3) I asked for no pickles in my burger, as I find pickles to be the grossest thing in the universe.
4) Our food arrives.
5) My burger came with the PICKLES I specifically stated that I didn't want!!! Yes people, it had PICKLES!!! Now I face a different dilemma...I hate picking and refurnishing food, sooo, I eat around the PICKLES! Yes, I did!
6) There was one server who did not seem to belong there, I only way that because he was actually really nice with a very happy demeanor.
7) Since my phone was about to die, I asked the nice server if I could possibly plug in my phone for a few minutes, and obviously the nice guy said "suuuuuure" and even plugged it in for me. I was happy.
8) 10 seconds later I see OUR server gallop towards me 4000 miles an hour, only to tell me that if the restaurant filled up I would have to move my phone.
9) Hmm?
10) Hmm!
11) I counted how many people were in the restaurant, including us and there were 15 people seated.
12) We ate...
13) ...we paid...
14) ...and we left!

Verdict: The burger was good, so were the fries, service was horrendous.

MY LIFE AS A VEGETARIAN...

My first lunch date as a vegetarian was with my cutie patootie friend Averi Magnusson. She whisked me away on a romantic lunch in Buckhead (Atlanta)...ok, it wasn't that romantic and she really didn't whisk moi away, we actually drove separate cars, whatever:) We had a fabulous time at Veggie Land. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole tofu situation but being the great sport that I am I tried everything. Some of the food really did taste like paper...what can I say...

The food was ok, service was great, and the company was amazing!!!

We gossiped:) we laughed and we ate...lovely:)!

MILLER UNION - FOR NOSTALGIC REASONS!!!

The other day I decided to try this restaurant on Howell Mill. Miller Union. I always pass it, every time I try to maneuver my way through the city (yes, I like to take the long way home). Anyway...this time I actually planned to go there and I'm glad I did. I ordered the fried flounder fillet with shaved lettuce, caper herb mayo (MU's own) and french fries per my server Jennifer's recommendations and it was wonderful. For wine I tried the Bianca Vigna Brut Prosecco San Pietro di Feletto, Italy n/v, which is a white sparkling wine. Yes people, I took myself out on a date!!

The simplicity in the decor reminded me of a Scandinavian restaurant in Stockholm located by the water. There was somewhat of a nostalgic feeling presence at MU:) Right next to my table there was a ladder, obviously I realize that is was there for decoration purposes but I had to control myself to not climb it. Could you imagine? On my right there was a couple enjoying their dessert. They were eating something that resembled an ice cream called ¨the Sandwich¨ that we used to eat when we were younger. Since I went here for lunch I'm not quite sure of how the ambiance is during dinner and in the evening time but I'm sure would be delightful.

So...long story short, I really enjoyed my lunch at Miller Union, great food, wonderful service, and an incredible date:)

Holla @ anyone...everyone I encountered was pleasant and on point!

Ps. This may sound crazy, but their table water was delicious...it actually tasted like bottled water (and by that I mean clean), non of that chlorine-poison after taste that most restaurants leave you with, just saying.

I'm not a vegetarian!

I don't know why but I feel like trying something new this week...sooo, I've decided to become a vegetarian for a week. How hard can it be?? I love salads and colorful food so really, how difficult could this be? Besides it supposed to be a great way of cleansing. With this I do realize that I am making it sound like I am a big time carnivore, which I'm really not. So, I am committing to no meat or fish for the duration of this week. I shall keep you posted:)
