@ the Doctor's office with my "children"

I had such a scare about 7am this morning. I opened up my laptop to start working but it wouldn't work. Being the calm and collected and fabulous person that I am I waited for a good 4 minutes before I started freakin' out!! I grabbed my phone to make a phone call to J and scream in her ear, but my iPhone was also acting psycho! If I didn't know better I would think it was a conspiracy.

Dyonne's Divine Findings for Shukorina.com

"What's hunter green, perfect for almost every spring or summertime soiree', and under $20? My unpredictable favorite summer dress! It is not even July 1st yet and I've already gotten more than a return on my modest investment...if only the stock market was this rewarding! I've worn it to a best friend's birthday party, a random Tuesday night dinner with my darling Viktorya of Shukorina.com, and a Sunday afternoon brunch.

In my car right now - Beyoncé 4

I'm loving Beyoncé's new album. So well done...I have already picked out my favorite songs, but I'm not telling. You guys have to decide on your own:) I really appreciate the artist that she is.

Glenn and much more...

Necklaces: Stalini Coin, Bismarck Chain, Ivory Necklace by H&M
(relax it's costume jewelry)
Rings: White Gold rings - Michael Persson Carling, Ivory ring - H&M
Watch: Rose Gold - Michael Kors

Last night Ruth, Larry and I went on the ultimate Atlanta nightlife tour. We started off at the Glenn Hotel roof top, which I loved! Such a mixed and fun crowd...my cup of tea. After that we stopped by Aurum in midtown and I actually ran into Shannon...sweet girl. She was looking fresh and refreshed...why wouldn't she though, she's spent the summer traveling all over the place.

Versace + H&M = TRUE:)

Hello my beautiful friends. Guess what?? C'mon...guess! Ok, ok, ok...I'll tell you; Versace and H&M are doing a collabo. Yes, you heard it here:) Donatella made the announcement today in Milano. She will finally follow the likes of Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney just to name a few.

I'm not a big Versace fan but I love Donatella! Back in the day they had a place next to us (in RI)...and every time I used to accidentally spend my college allowance on clothes, massages and getting my hair done (it was a must, I swear), I would wish/day-dream/beg the Lord that D would knock on my door and give me 50,000 dollars (I'm not greedy). Long story short, it never happened!

Anyway...here we are with a Versace + H&M Fall 2011 collection, November 17th to be exact, it's nothing short of history (drama, I know). You know what that means though...there's going to be some serious fighting on 5th Ave! I'm just saying.

J and I have a system! We're not your average "camp out of the store" clothing worshipers. We are strategic H&M goers. We get to the store in our combat outfits (leggings and a loose top/jacket) whatever non-importante outfit you can put together, that still looks somewhat acceptable, but you don't care if it gets torn up. Yes, people...it tends to get ugly. The main goal is to get something you can actually wear, if not, get whatever looks half way decent. After that, you should just start yanking things out of peoples hands. We've done pretty well although Jamie almost lost an arm in 2004 for the sake of a Karl Lagerfeld top and in 2005 (Stella McCartney) we got into it with these girls from Buffalo New York. I really had to go gangsta on them!

Although I can't stand crowds like that...it really has turned into somewhat of a competitive sport for moi. Hey, some are into basketball and others love fashion.

See you on 5th Ave (H&M store).

Ps. Don't get mad if I happen to Oscar de la Hoya you. I promise it's not personal:)

I Beg to Differ!

Although Alber Elbaz says that he's not cool and that Lanvin is not a cool brand, I found this pic in my Lanvin folder (Spring 2011 RTW). If this look is not cool, I don't know what is. I love Alber Elbaz and his work for Lanvin. It's as if every collection simply gets better and better and keeps telling more and more interesting stories. Pretty exciting:) I know, I know...I sound like a dork, but I can't help being happy when witnessing greatness.

On another note it's Father's Day here in the US. I sent my Papi a text message and replied with the cutest sms ever. Love my little Daddy! He kills me with his cuteness!!!

Hope you guys had a lovely day with your families!

It's French...but on the Lower East Side.

Last night we went to Jadis, a cute little French place on the lower east side (42 Rivington). The food was great and so was the company, what more can you ask for when going to dinner. It was my favorite style of eating...a bunch of adorable little tastings, great salad and a hungry moi:) Next time we're going to my favorite Swedish place in the West Village...not telling you what it's called yet;)

Ps. *This posting is dedicated to one of my readers who voiced a concern about an expensive skirt.

Swedish Chocolate...yummy.

There is no chocolate that can ever compete with Swedish chocolate. If you have ever had it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It solves everything, if given a chance it may even solve political issues. It's just a thought.

In my house we had rules how these particular boxes were to be eaten. Since this particular box (Paradise) has two floors, the rule was that anyone under the age of 18 was not allowed to dabble amongst the different floors. My mother on the other hand would. I'm sure every family had their own rules...so we're not the only crazys:) out there.

So I was having chocolate while enjoying the New York weather from Robel's place.

Aaa happiness:)

My Lasagna:)

Voila, Lasagna but yours truly!

After Thompson's consistent repetition in asking me if I can make my lasagna, I decided to grant her wishes. For those who don't know, I have perfected the art of making lasagna. It tastes pretty darn good if I do say so myself:) Jamie, Ali and I were eating our little hearts out. Today we are making Eggplant Parmesan! I would write down the recipe but I am a freestyler. It sucks I know. It's the foreigner in moi that never writes down the measurements. It used to piss me off when my mother never had an accurate number for me as far as measurements and every single time I would get on her about it, she would tell me that cooking is about trial and error...you try you're way to the perfect taste.

Here is the approximate recipe for my lasagna:

The other Night @ the Hudson Hotel

I wasn't planning on going anywhere, but Jeremy was throwing a party at the Hudson (Hotel)...I had to. We met up with Barri & Co and had a great time. She is such a cutie pie. The place was packed, as most of J's parties are, and everyone seemed to have a great time.

My package finally arrived from Armed & Dangerous NYC...two long charm necklaces. HAPPINESS:)

On another note, I kind of want this Azzedine Alaïa (basket) bag. I kind of like it a lot, actually I love it.

Smooch!

ERI-APA (Eritrean American Professional Association)

Last night was the first Eri-APA meeting. It was amazing, and what an accomplished crowd. As an Eritrean it makes me extra proud to see that we have people on Wallstreet (Adam Teckie), in major financial institutions in New York City, as University Deans, as noted and respected artists, in the UN, Bankers, Entrepreneurs, Lawyers and Harvard Doctors (yes people, and she is a girl)! I know there are many more out there, this organization offers a great platform for all people with the common goal of connecting and advancing in life. Some great questions were asked during the meeting and I have to say that I love that Magda was the first one to ask Adam a question in regards to the banking world (her industry).

Henok Kidane, a successful entrepreneur and Dawit Ghebreab, a lawyer, really did a great job with this one. I'm honored that I was asked to be apart of this (as the moderator). I was so nervous and really wanted to make the guys proud. The meeting was held at the Akerman offices in NYC (one of the city's top law firms, on Madison Avenue). Obviously their offices are beautiful, located on the 26th floor, with an amazing view of the greatest city on earth (after Asmara, of course:).

This was the perfect way to kick off something that I know will grow into a huge network!

*More pictures will follow*

Ps. For the record, if I ever hear anyone say, the famous "there are no good Eritrean men or women (to marry)" line, I will beat you up!
