NEED A NEW CALENDAR!

I think I might need a new calendar. What do you guys recommend? I really am a paper and pen type of girl...ol' fashioned like that:) Tomorrow I have two events I'm attending...will definitely post pics from both. I think I'm wearing one of the dresses from our SHUKORINA clothing line...maybe...

Let me know about the calendar por favore!

MY LIFE AS A VEGETARIAN...

My first lunch date as a vegetarian was with my cutie patootie friend Averi Magnusson. She whisked me away on a romantic lunch in Buckhead (Atlanta)...ok, it wasn't that romantic and she really didn't whisk moi away, we actually drove separate cars, whatever:) We had a fabulous time at Veggie Land. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole tofu situation but being the great sport that I am I tried everything. Some of the food really did taste like paper...what can I say...

The food was ok, service was great, and the company was amazing!!!

We gossiped:) we laughed and we ate...lovely:)!

Look of the Day - KANYE WEST, Runaway ft. PUSHA T

MILLER UNION - FOR NOSTALGIC REASONS!!!

The other day I decided to try this restaurant on Howell Mill. Miller Union. I always pass it, every time I try to maneuver my way through the city (yes, I like to take the long way home). Anyway...this time I actually planned to go there and I'm glad I did. I ordered the fried flounder fillet with shaved lettuce, caper herb mayo (MU's own) and french fries per my server Jennifer's recommendations and it was wonderful. For wine I tried the Bianca Vigna Brut Prosecco San Pietro di Feletto, Italy n/v, which is a white sparkling wine. Yes people, I took myself out on a date!!

The simplicity in the decor reminded me of a Scandinavian restaurant in Stockholm located by the water. There was somewhat of a nostalgic feeling presence at MU:) Right next to my table there was a ladder, obviously I realize that is was there for decoration purposes but I had to control myself to not climb it. Could you imagine? On my right there was a couple enjoying their dessert. They were eating something that resembled an ice cream called ¨the Sandwich¨ that we used to eat when we were younger. Since I went here for lunch I'm not quite sure of how the ambiance is during dinner and in the evening time but I'm sure would be delightful.

So...long story short, I really enjoyed my lunch at Miller Union, great food, wonderful service, and an incredible date:)

Holla @ anyone...everyone I encountered was pleasant and on point!

Ps. This may sound crazy, but their table water was delicious...it actually tasted like bottled water (and by that I mean clean), non of that chlorine-poison after taste that most restaurants leave you with, just saying.

I'm not a vegetarian!

I don't know why but I feel like trying something new this week...sooo, I've decided to become a vegetarian for a week. How hard can it be?? I love salads and colorful food so really, how difficult could this be? Besides it supposed to be a great way of cleansing. With this I do realize that I am making it sound like I am a big time carnivore, which I'm really not. So, I am committing to no meat or fish for the duration of this week. I shall keep you posted:)

3.1 Phillip Lim - How did I forget???

My darling Phillip Lim rarely does anything to disappoint me. I've been meaning to put this up for a little while. This time it's ¨biker girls'¨...as usual to raving reviews. I'm in love with the colors and the coolness!!! I love when a designer grows and evolves with every collection...with PL, there is never a dull moment!

FINDERS KEEPERS...MY MAGAZINE!

Back at Octane Coffee shop. I'm just waiting for them to name a wall or a table after me, as I come here religiously almost every single day (when I'm in town). There's something inspiring and simple about this place that speaks to me. Anyway...enough with the mushyness. So I walk in to Octane and there were only three tables available and I randomly picked the one in the middle, furthest away. As I was getting settled in...I spot this little bundle of deliciousness on one of the chairs. Weddings Unveiled Magazine. Could this be a sign that I should go and spend the equivalent amount of what it would take to plan a major wedding? I don't know, it could be. I did what any curious fashion loving magazine collector would do....I looked around and slowly put that bad boy in my purse and pretended as if nothing happened. What can I say; my inner bank robber got the best of moi.

I'm not a thief, just a lucky initiative taker.

Super excited about reading every single page!

I FINALLY WENT TO YOFORIA!!!

This afternoon I picked ¨the kid¨ up from school and decided to use him as an excuse to go try Yoforia on Howell Mill. I had the vanilla yogurt with fresh pineapple, mango and strawberries...¨the kid¨ threatened to scream if he wasn't allowed to put gummy snakes (candy) in mine, so I let him (I mean, I can't beat the child). His was filled with everything sweet. His mother probably hates me right now for filling him up with sugar...but the child is an initiative taker and he did mix his own yogurt. Her problem!!!

Holla @ Don't know, it was empty when I walked in...employees showed up after us, weird.

BUMISH, MOI???

I will not post a pic of my outfit today...I am looking atrocious. Not just saying that. It started this morning when I woke up in stroke mode, remembering that I forgot to do something. In true warrior spirit I flew out of the bed and got ready in something that felt like 7 nanoseconds, I kid you not! I NEVER FORGET STUFF! What is going on with me? I got everything done though...and all is well in Shukorina Land:)

Sooo...my outfit consisted of navy blue Marc Jacobs flip flops, baggy Adidas sweat pants (oh, yes I did), a bright blue tank top, gold aviator RayBans (I'm sorry for disrespecting you), and my brown ¨I love Vintage¨ bag. No shame in my game...what kills me is that I was on the phone with my girlfriend from Sweden telling her that she should be locked up for an outfit she was wearing. I think I need a nap.

Good Bye...Beautiful Dame Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011)

Elizabeth Taylor was a gentle and beautiful woman who's fight in finding the cure for AIDS was known and recognized all over the world. Dame Elizabeth was a defender for the broken, the weak and the people who were affected and infected by this horrific virus. Her children released a statement early this morning saying; if anyone wanted to remember and celebrate their mother's life they could do so by making a donation to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS foundation.

Look of the day from VOGUE ITALIA

HOW RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS!!!

The other day my good friend Leor in Atlanta forwarded me a Scoutmob email (don't know why I'm not receiving it myself...could be my Aprés Diem bashing, but whatever) about ¨Desta Ethiopian Kitchen¨ in Atlanta, GA. She remembered me telling her that we would go there one day when we were both in Atlanta at the same time (rarely happens). Anyway, this little place located on the corner of Clairmont and Briarcliff rd. is the ultimate taste-haven. Everything I've ever tasted on that menu has been nothing but delicious. Ethiopian food is as flavorful and colorful as it gets, in a good way. This is the place where all of your food-inhibitions are left behind...you eat with your hands (not both at the same time, important to know).

RULES:
You take a piece of the thin injera bread and ¨pinch¨ the different spicy sauces, meats and vegetables. My favorite dishes are the Fish Tibs (Fried Tilapia) and the Tibs Tenderloin. I'm seriously getting hungry writing this. Yes, I'm a hungry monster:) Yummy! DESTA has created the perfect combination of traditional and modern....and guess what...they're customer service is on point, the good people at Desta take their jobs very seriously. Love it!!!

By now I'm sure that everyone knows how picky and psychotic I am about FOOD and FASHION and I can honestly say that this place rocks my belly:)

Poppa Duty!

Ok people...I am running home right now to finish this letter for my Daddy. Love him but he will discipline me (YES, Gardy) if I don't finish this before I go to sleep tonight.

Hummus @ Aprés Diem!

Yes, I'm back! I don't know what is going on with me??? I can't seem to get over the whole Aprés Diem incident/incidents!!! Good Lord! My final evaluation is that the food is absolutely acceptable but some of their servers are psycho! Seriously! Jesse (girl, blond) is adorable, gets everything right, is basically there to work. Our waitress today was also on point (red hair, that's all I remember...possibly due to the shock of great service).

I'm not that weirdo restaurant goer that always complains...but coooooome on!!!

Go there when you're having a phenomenal day, as these people will lower your mood and balance you out.

Summer Lunch :) @ Aprés Diem

Yes people, you must think I hate myself! As much complaints as I have about Aprés Diem's (10th St, Atlanta, GA) customer service I still keep going back for more. What's funny is that I'm equally surprised each and every time of how insanely poor their service is. Good Lord!!! I was thinking it was personal until I saw how the server was giving another patron that nonchalant BS that I can't stand! Anyway, the salad and the Kobe Burger was great:) I'm such a hungry monster:)

Flashback lunch w/ the queen of Lemon aka my sister!

It's always nice to sit and chat with my darling sister...and it's extra enjoyable when she feeds me. To be completely honest I made the Knäckebröd crackers w/ cheese...(YES, GARDY!) Anyway it was delicious. Such an appropriate spring salad. I loved every bite of it, except all the soury lemons, limes and green tomatoes that she insists on putting in there. I VETOed on the lemons and limes but did in fact swallow some green tomatoes.

Aah, lovely:)

Rihanna on the cover of American Vogue - About time!!!

Rihanna is finally gracing the cover of American Vogue for the first time, and I have to say she looks lovely in Chanel! Yay Anna, for making it happen...it really was about time. I'm super happy about the color splash for this April issue and can't wait to lay my ¨in desperate need of a manicure¨ paws on it!!! Yes, I said it! The spread was shot by Annie Leibovitz so you know it won't be anything less than magnifique:)

TOMS is not just a Shoe Company

In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers. In 2011 Mycoskie announced during a his SxSW keynote that in June of this year he will unveil a new ¨1 for 1¨ product. Let's support this movement by buying a pair of TOMS and let's get inspired and encouraged.

Grilled Salmon Ciabatta a´la MOI!

Grilled Salmon Ciabatta - A replica of the one we all love to order at Apré Diem in Atlanta, GA. I actually like this place, despite their frequent suckiness in service. I guess you can't have everything in life. The combination of the salmon and the sundried tomatoes spread is to die for. I like!

TWIST Restaurant - Atlanta, GA

Oh, Snap!!!

Twist in Buckhead (Atlanta, GA) is a restaurant/lounge/sushi spot/tapas place with quite a social scene. Friday thru Sunday this restaurant located on the outside of Phipps Plaza turns into something reminiscent of a (dare I say it) nightclub. With bright colored Lamborghinis parked in the front; Twist is a definitive hotsp
ot, especially in the summer time and when the weather behaves. The Langosta sushi rolls are lovely!

The Morning Bun @ Starbucks - USA

The Morning Bun at Starbucks is no JOKE! I seriously drove around the other day looking for that sucker. What in the world. This lovely creation is the perfect way of starting your morning. Not too sweet...but just sweet enough.

FLIP BURGER - ATLANTA, GA

Oh, Snap!!!

Flip Burger - Home of the best burger in America. I spiced it up today by adding blue cheese on that bad boy:) The place is clean, modern and tasty. They tend to get really busy on weekends and during the evening towards the end of the week. I would just call and check before heading over there. Great place for a date, girls night out or your average ¨I gotta get me a burger¨ craving! The Upside-down pineapple shake was molto deliscioso!

The ultimate Woman

Cook, clean, raise children, raise well mannered children, be modern and educated, have a career, stay beautiful, be a loving and adoring wife, mother, daughter and sister. These are some of the duties that fall upon the shoulders of a woman. It starts early as the role of a daughter and possibly a sister. As a good daughter you are to respect and obey your father and love and protect your mother, a good sister is supposed to protect the feelings of her siblings as well as offer support and encouragement. None of these are easy tasks to master. It takes conscious efforts and constant trial and error in order to become an ¨almost¨ expert.

Obviously I have these two roles down! Seriously:)

In the old days a woman's role was to stand behind her husband and she was not to have a voice. A woman who deviated from the norm was considered a somewhat disgrace and was looked upon as a ¨wild woman¨. As times changed and women gained more and more influence in society so did the rules. Girls were going to school to become, doctors, lawyers, professors, bankers and even astronauts. In our time women are running for political office and changing the world. Women such as my girl Oprah have created history and are a great source of inspiration for young girls all over the world.

So who is the ultimate woman?

To me the ultimate woman is a confident, strong, loving, reasonable and nurturing source of comfort. She is confident enough to not have the need to be loud and is happy leading from the back. She is strong enough to take care of her parents and siblings, the family she shares with her husband as well as her husbands family. She is strong enough to take criticism and still be hungry for more knowledge. She is strong enough to earn a university degree while maintaining a humble and non confrontational demeanor towards her husband. She is loving enough to be kind and generous towards strangers and people in need. She is loving enough to put her family's needs in front of her own and loving enough to support and respect the dreams of her husband. She is reasonable enough to be forgiving and patient. She is nurturing enough that her husband and children see her as a pillar of hope and goodness. She is a source of comfort to her friends where they lean on her for moral support and a shoulder to cry on. The ultimate woman is God fearing and leads by example.

She is Superwoman!

John Galliano - kicked out of Dior

To many of us, John Galliano is known for his avant garde fashion and artistic haute couture collections for the legendary House of Dior. He is celebrated all over the world amongst fashion lovers, royalties and creative geniuses. Galliano's Dior dresses also grace red carpets all over the world and he is the A-list's go-to designer for one of a kind pieces. Galliano's recent headlines is for something other than exquisite taste.
According to Britain's Sun newspaper, he was quoted making anti-Semetic comments in a Paris restaurant. A spokesperson for Dior has stated that the company has condemned his behavior and they are deeply saddened by this. Apparently Galliano went as far as to state that he loves Hitler and referring to mothers and forefathers being ¨f---ing gassed and f---ing killed¨.
Christian Dior is now proceeding with the firing of John Galliano. Way to kill your career! I am personally disgusted and frankly shocked by this. This is a man who is supposed to represent what is beautiful and has instead shown something absolutely atrocious.

A sad day in fashion...
